Sometimes residents get anxious about crime in our community. Well, knowledge is power.
I would like to share with you a fantastic new tool that has been launched by the York Region Police. The Community Safety Data Portal has all the information you need about incidents in King Township (and across York Region). It also recommends tips on what you can do about crime in your neighbourhood.
To start, you can sign up for a weekly email that summarizes recent crime activity and the status of on- going investigations. Maps and dashboards are available to study current crime trends and historic data, filtered to your area. There are resources to learn about how you can protect yourself against crime, as well as easy links to report crimes or provide tips.
For example, for those of you who are interested in looking at the data around Vehicle Theft in King / York Region, you might be interested in this dashboard.
I have spent some time looking at the website. It is easy to navigate and the data is fascinating. I also found it very reassuring. King Township and Ward 4 are very safe places. Check it out!
