Meet Mary Asselstine

Rooted in Community

Mary Asselstine has proudly called Schomberg home since 1985.

She and her husband chose King Township for its rural charm, strong sense of community, and quality of life. They built their life on Main Street, raised their family and became deeply involved in local community life.

For decades, Mary has been a volunteer, organizer, advocate and community builder- working alongside residents to strengthen local organizations, support events, and create opportunities that benefit the whole community.

A Record of Service

Mary has helped lead and support many community initiatives, including founding roles with: 

  • Dufferin Marsh Nature Connection

  • Schomberg Community Farm

  • Climate Action King

She has also contributed to numerous local organizations, events, and fundraising efforts that have strengthened community life in King Township:

  • Schomberg Figure Skating Club

  • Schomberg Softball Association

  • Emmanuel Presbyterian Church

She has worked for the Township of King, Conservation Authorities, and educational organizations, giving her valuable insight into how local government works- and how to get things done.

Mary holds degrees from:

  • Trent University

  • York University

She has also been recognized for leadership in conservation, volunteerism, and community service by the Township of King, the Lake Simcoe Region CA and Canadian Wildlife Federation.
